Kitgum Christian RadioDavid Livingstone lives in a war zone, near the Sudan border, 500 Km north of Kampala, Uganda in a town called Kitgum. On the surrounding plains rebel soldiers, wage war with the people, murdering innocent civilians and taking children to the slave markets of Sudan. Those the soldiers leave behind face an epidemic of AIDS and the deadly Ebola virus. This is were David has worked for many years alongside Irene Gleeson of Childcare International to build the Victory Centre where more than 1,500 orphan children are cared for every day.
David has seen the people gather around cheap FM receivers, straining to hear a weak distant signal, to catch a glimpse of hope from the outside world. To reach the one million who speak his native tongue in such a remote and dangerous area, David has envisioned a broadcast radio station. Using the power of the airwaves David will give these people what they so desperately need. Simple community health announcements to save countless lives. The gospel to bring hope and peace to where there is none. Coastlands have the expertise to make this dream a reality. We are committed to design, supply and install a complete station. In January 2002 a team will travel to Kitgum to complete this project.
Stop Press - Peace FM Kitgum is now on-air
